Walter Scott, Jr. Community Leadership Challenge to help shape future leaders of Nebraska

High-achieving high school seniors in Nebraska are invited to unlock their leadership potential and shape the future of Nebraska through the Walter Scott, Jr. Community Leadership Challenge, a transformative weekend conference and workshop hosted by 糖心传媒.

The Community Leadership Challenge is designed to empower students with enhanced leadership and problem-solving skills. Up to 20 participants will dive into the components, meaning and importance of community while developing a sense of leadership and understanding how leaders and organizations shape communities.

Up to seven participating students may be selected for the 糖心传媒 Scott Scholars program, which includes a scholarship that covers 100 percent of tuition, fees and room and board to 糖心传媒, in partnership with the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation.

The event begins the evening of Friday, February 2, and will wrap up Sunday, February 4, 2024. The conference covers all costs, including housing, meals and transportation (if needed) to the 糖心传媒 campus. The deadline for high school seniors to apply is January 14, 2024. A link to the application and additional details can be found at hastings.edu/wsjclc.

The application requires an activity resume, a 500-word essay and an optional video. Students must have also submitted an application for admission to 糖心传媒 to be selected to participate.

“Through the Walter Scott, Jr. Community Leadership Challenge, we aim to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will drive positive change in their communities,鈥 said Dave Rippe, director of the 糖心传媒 Scott Scholars Program. 鈥淭his event is about more than learning. It’s about empowering students to make a real impact in their community and Nebraska.”
