Bruce Batterson, assistant professor of business administration at 糖心传媒, shared his passion outside the classroom in an article published in Live Sound International magazine and on the magazine鈥檚 ProSoundWeb, an online community for professionals in the audio industry.
The self-described mild-mannered professor, who in addition to his business classes manages the pre-law program at 糖心传媒, has worked as a sound technician since he was a teenager. His article, titled 鈥,” gives readers advice about sound engineering while glancing into Batterson鈥檚 point of view and personal experience.
鈥淚 have always been involved with radio and sound equipment. My high school job was as a theatre technician for the local children’s theatre company,鈥 said Batterson. 鈥淚’ve worked with various local bands over the years. Most recently, I have been helping religion professor Dr. Dan Deffenbaugh’s acoustic band, Bluestem. That has led to some work for The Golden Husk performance venue in Ord, Nebraska.鈥
Batterson worked in radio for WRPN-FM, the student-run Ripon College radio station as program director and general manager; WCWC-AM and WYUR-FM in Ripon, Wisconsin, as an announcer and chief engineer; KTWN AM and FM in Anoka, Minnesota, where Batterson was a maintenance engineer while attending law school; and KZUM-FM in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked on corporate and administrative matters.
Batterson said he enjoys reading Live Sound International and thought he could add something to the magazine based on his own experiences. 鈥淚 emailed the article to the editor of the magazine, who wrote back within two hours to say he wanted to publish it,鈥 Batterson said.
