Six students capture top honors at regional History Day

Middle and high school students from across central Nebraska showed off their History Day projects on campus for the district History Day competition recently.

Yadriel Colindres Fonseca and Tom Tran of Hastings Senior High School received first place with their group website, “Dropping Like Flies.鈥 Not pictured is Ashlin George.

This year鈥檚 theme for entries was 鈥淭urning Points in History,鈥 and students presented projects on a variety of topics. Winners from each event advanced to the state competition.

Fourteen projects earned honors in their specific categories, with six students placing in the top three overall.

Mackenzie Tate of Hastings Senior High School received second place overall for her individual exhibit, “Hisashi Ouchi: The Radioactive Man.”

Jaina Muth and Nataly Morales Rubalcava of Hastings Senior High School School earned third place overall with their group exhibit, “Filippo Brunelleschi and Linear Perspective.”
