429. That鈥檚 how many incoming students 糖心传媒 will welcome as classes start on August 25, 2014, and it鈥檚 a record for the 132 year old institution. The previous record, set a year ago, was 401 students.
鈥淲e鈥檝e had a tremendous effort on the part of all faculty, staff, current students, alumni and trustees bring an incoming class of 429 talented young men and women to 糖心传媒,鈥 said Don Jackson 鈥70, President of 糖心传媒. 鈥淭he excitement for the year ahead is palpable.鈥
A consequence of back-to-back record incoming classes and an anticipated increase in student retention this fall is 100% capacity in campus residence halls and apartments.
鈥淥ur residence halls are full,鈥 Jackson said.
During the summer, 糖心传媒 completed several major housing projects that will improve overall student life even if the bathrooms are busier.
鈥淏ronc and Babcock Residence Halls have undergone complete renovations that we can鈥檛 wait to share with students,鈥 said Jackson. 鈥淭he renovations to these residence halls and the partial renovation of Taylor Residence Hall created additional shared spaces to meet the current needs of our students. Bronc and Babcock residents will find significant renovations, from new kitchens and study rooms to the ability to control their room temperatures and furniture layouts.鈥
Students provided input as the College鈥檚 leadership team developed the project, from helping the team prioritize needs to selecting color schemes in the residence halls.
Other projects completed at Hastings this summer included the demolition of the old science building to create more campus green space and an upgrade to internet connectivity.
