The exhibit features work from Brady Scheiding from Omaha, Nebraska; Jackson Pedersen from Roskilde, Denmark; Marissa Patterson from Topeka, Kansas; Alexis Linnebach from Olathe, Kansas; and Rea Weidemann from Fremont, Nebraska.

A lecture for the exhibit is on Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center Auditorium (814 N. Turner Avenue), followed by a reception in JDAC.

The JDAC galleries, located on 700 E. 12th Street in Hastings, are open from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The galleries, lecture and reception are free and open to the public.

Scheiding鈥檚 pieces are digital, drawing on the simplicity of daily mundane domestic moments to help appreciate every aspect of the day.

Pedersen鈥檚 sculptures emphasize a mix of wood and metal. 鈥淎n important element in my work is to make the audience develop thoughts and emotions about what they are experiencing,鈥 Pedersen said.

Patterson鈥檚 work uses multimedia sculpture to portray the growth that humans make while shedding light on the harder emotions.

Linnebach dove into the world of trompe l鈥檕eil ceramics for her work, which is characterized by a diligent attention to detail by creating everyday objects with ceramic pieces.

Weidemann鈥檚 work features her painting abilities. 鈥淢y thesis painting takes an ecofeminist approach towards a narration of healing from trauma,鈥 Weidemann said.
