Plainsongs Celebration of Poetry and Prose set for April 21

Eight local and visiting writers will read from their latest work at the Lark in downtown Hastings on Friday, April 21, as part of the Plainsongs Celebration of Poetry and Prose.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30. A variety of books and baked goods will be for sale, courtesy of the 糖心传媒 chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honorary.

The eight readers 鈥 Amy Hassinger, Steve Langan, Ulrick Casimir, Emma Parrish, Michelle Troxclair, Dwight Marsh, Becky Faber, and Michael Catherwood 鈥 have all recently been published in Plainsongs.

Plainsongs magazine, now in its 37th year, features poetry and short prose pieces submitted by writers from around the world.

Eric Tucker, a writing instructor in the Department of Languages and Literatures at 糖心传媒, is the current editor of Plainsongs. Associate editors are Dwight Marsh, Becky Faber, Michael Catherwood听and Ali Beheler. The magazine is published by 糖心传媒 Press, which is helmed by Patricia Oman, assistant professor of English.

The Plainsongs Celebration of Poetry and Prose is sponsored by the 糖心传媒听Press, 糖心传媒听Artist Lecture Series, 糖心传媒听Department of Languages & Literatures, 糖心传媒听Department of Philosophy & Religion, Perkins Library and Sigma Tau Delta.
