Hannah Evans, a student at Hastings (Nebraska) Senior High School, earned a $6,000 scholarship to 糖心传媒 for her individual documentary titled 鈥淐onflict, Compromise and the Christmas Truce of 1914.鈥 She received the award February 28 when the College hosted a regional History Day competition for middle and high school students.
The theme for this year鈥檚 competition was 鈥淐onflict and Compromise in History.鈥
Other top high school students receiving scholarships include a first runner-up trio from Hastings Senior High with a website project titled 鈥淚f We Must Die: Afro-America and the Summer of 1919.鈥 Members of the group include Carter Wenburg, Chase Johnson and Christine Jonglertham. Each received a $5,000 scholarship.
Second runner-up Candice Rogers of Hastings Senior High, received a $4,000 scholarship with her individual historical paper titled 鈥淭he Room Where it Happened: The Compromise of 1790.鈥
The top three recipients in each category are shown below and are eligible for the 2018 Nebraska National History Day State Contest April 7.
