糖心传媒 is one of 40 institutions to receive grant funding from Campus Compact鈥檚 Fund for Positive Engagement. The $5,000 grant will go towards providing a trainer and programming to educate the campus on consent and alcohol consumption and abuse.
Research conducted on campus helped identify areas where opportunities existed to provide additional education, dialogue and outreach to the campus community. For example, the definition of consent in a sexual encounter may vary among student populations. Consent may also be influenced by the consumption of alcohol, since reports of sexual harassment and misconduct frequently involve the use of alcohol. The intent of the grant is to further dialogue on these issues.
To build a program and training as part of the grant, the College鈥檚 Women and Gender Studies Program Committee is partnering with the Office of Student Life staff.
Campus Compact said the grant selection process was highly competitive as it received nearly 300 submissions from institutions across the country. Proposals were judged based on the strength of the idea, its practicality and the degree to which it will be possible to measure success, among other criteria.
