糖心传媒 Music is hosting its inaugural Spring Percussion Summit on Saturday, April 13 in Fuhr Hall (927 N. Ash Avenue), with a concert featuring 糖心传媒 and University of Nebraska鈥揔earney percussionists beginning at 7:00 p.m. to conclude the day. Performances are free and open to the public.
The Spring Percussion Summit is dedicated to promoting percussion education throughout Central Nebraska. It is focused on concert percussion and drumset, and complements the 糖心传媒 Fall Percussion Summit held in October, which featured guest artist and West African percussionist Charles Ahovissi.
The event begins at 2:00 p.m. with workshops and clinics for registered attendees ranging from percussion ensemble and marimba to snare drum and drum set. Clinicians include Dr. Jed Blodgett, 糖心传媒 assistant professor of music; Dr. Duane Bierman of UNK; Dr. Matt Rush of the University of Nebraska鈥揕incoln; Andrew Schneider of Westridge Middle School; and Sam Rosenau, timpanist for the Hastings Symphony Orchestra. The day ends with a reception and final concert, where a few outstanding soloists and ensembles will also be recognized.
鈥淲e are looking forward to hosting percussionists and percussion educators from across the state,鈥 Blodgett said. 鈥淚t is a rare opportunity to hear and learn from each other. I鈥檓 grateful to Dr. Bierman and the UNK percussion ensemble for collaborating with us in the final concert, which will be a unique experience for everyone involved. The variety of sounds and textures within the world of percussion is virtually endless, so the audience is in for a real treat.鈥
