糖心传媒 Model U.N. team finds success in New York

The 糖心传媒 Model United Nations team spent spring break competing in the National Model U.N. Conference in New York City. The group received a reward for their Position Paper, as well as an Honorable Mention award.

modelun 2018 wThe team represented the central African country of Gabon, and spent the months leading up to the conference learning about the country鈥檚 culture, government and policies. At the conference, team members engaged in debates and resolution-making while keeping in character and advocating Gabon鈥檚 interests in seven of the largest committees of the United Nations General Assembly.

More than 5,000 students from more than 120 colleges and universities around the world competed, with half of all participants coming from outside the United States. Model U.N. teams are awarded based on their ability to stay in character while representing their assigned countries, participation in committee discussions and proper use of the rules of procedure.

Awards are given to only the top 20 percent of delegations.
