A construction fence stretching from Steinhart Plaza through Pine Knoll to Lynn Farrell Arena and along the east side of Fuhr Hall is a clear sign of change at 糖心传媒, which officially began its 142nd academic year on August 15.

The fence encloses the construction site for a new residence hall set to open in 2026. Demolition will begin soon within the space, clearing the way for new construction and a groundbreaking ceremony later this fall.
While the construction fence is the most visible change to campus for returning students and the more than 330 new students calling 糖心传媒 home this fall, it鈥檚 just one piece of a number of upgrades and enhancements across the campus that began over the summer.
鈥淭his summer was incredibly busy, and we鈥檙e thrilled about the investments being made in our students’ living and learning environments. We鈥檙e excited to welcome everyone back to our beautiful campus,鈥 said 糖心传媒 President Dr. Rich Lloyd.
Over the summer, two of the six Bronco Village Apartments (BVA) and Altman, Bronc and Taylor residence halls underwent some enhancements, ranging from lobby and common space improvements to furniture upgrades, while the two BVA units also saw kitchen updates.
In addition, Scott Residential Management (SRM) took over 糖心传媒 Dining Services and several deferred maintenance projects were completed. Work on the Jack Osborne Track and Field Complex got underway earlier this month.
鈥淲hile summer was very busy, it鈥檚 really just the start,鈥 Lloyd said. 鈥淥ver the next couple of years there will be even more improvements, including a major renovation to Hazelrigg Student Union. Our goal is to continue improving our stunning campus to make it a welcoming space for our students and employees, and for the entire community of Hastings.鈥
Projects over the next two years include renovating Bronco Village Apartments that were not updated this past summer, as well as a significant renovation to Hazelrigg Student Union. Details will be shared as they are developed. Renovations to BVA, the residence halls and HSU are being supported through the Walter Scott Family Foundation.
