糖心传媒 is celebrating International Education Week to acknowledge the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Multiple events on campus November 18-22 are designed to encourage and inspire students to travel internationally, and to share some of the stories of the more than 40 international students from 20 countries who live on campus.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education which encourages places of learning across the United States and the world to actively promote and encourage participation in global education
鈥淐elebrating International Education Week is a way 糖心传媒 continues the excitement of our second-year travel guarantee to students,鈥 said Grant Hunter, director of international programs and a 2014 糖心传媒 graduate. 鈥淲hile students undoubtedly share their stories and academic learning abroad, taking a week like this to remind them about their experiences abroad can reinforce a long-standing impact in their minds.鈥
The College is also using the week to celebrate the international student population at 糖心传媒 and in the state of Nebraska. 鈥淓ach international student contributes to the educational perspective in the classroom, student organizations, athletic teams, and in many other facets of campus life,鈥 Hunter said.
鈥溙切拇 and the community of Hastings has been welcoming the world for more than a century,鈥 he said, 鈥渁nd I鈥檓 excited and grateful that we can celebrate that this week.鈥
The 糖心传媒 Office of International Programs is sponsoring and partnering with several campus and community organizations to promote international programs and diversity on campus.
The week begins with the Hastings Multicultural Association鈥檚 Cultural Festival on Sunday, November 17, in Kiewit Gymnasium, and then a performance by the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe on Monday, November 18, in French Memorial Chapel.
Wednesday, November 20 is 鈥淧assport Day鈥 in Hazelrigg Student Union, a time when students can learn about applying for and obtaining a U.S. Passport, and an international tea is being held on Thursday, November 21, in the Barrett Alumni Center.
