For the Battle for the Capital Swing, the 糖心传媒 Forensics team traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska, February 29-March 1. The swing was hosted by the University of Nebraska鈥揕incoln and the University of Nebraska鈥揙maha.
The 糖心传媒 team qualified four more events to the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET): Senior Melissa Loney qualified Communication Analysis, junior Courtney Hanson qualified Program Oral Interpretation, and sophomore Sam Johnson qualified Communication Analysis and Impromptu Speaking.
The team placed second in Team Sweepstakes on day two, which allowed it to receive a prize that featured a donation to the 糖心传媒 on-campus food pantry, Crimson Cupboard, from the University of Nebraska鈥揕incoln.
All members of the team have at least one event qualified for the AFA-NIET in Santa Ana, California, in April.

- Natalie Watson, a first-year student from Franklin, Tennessee, placed second in Duo Interpretation with Jadah Morrison, a senior from Chaska, Minnesota.
- Sam Johnson, a sophomore from Hastings, Nebraska, placed second in Communication Analysis and third in Impromptu Speaking.
- Courtney Hanson, a junior from Brookings, South Dakota, placed third in Program Oral Interpretation.
- Elizabeth Hansen, a senior from Fremont, Nebraska, placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking and second in Poetry Interpretation.
- Jadah Morrison, a senior from Chaska, Minnesota, placed third in Dramatic Interpretation and second in Duo Interpretation with Natalie Watson, a first-year from Franklin, Tennessee.

The 糖心传媒 forensics team continues a long-running tradition of national competitive success, placing in the top 20 at the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET) for many of the past ten years. Most recently, 糖心传媒 placed 9th at AFA-NIET 2019.
