Forensics team takes third in sweepstakes at Sunflower Swing

The 糖心传媒 Forensics Team traveled to North Newton, Kansas, for the Sunflower Swing at Bethel College October 19-20.

The four teammates who represented 糖心传媒 placed third as a team on Saturday. During the tournament, junior Courtney Hanson qualified After Dinner Speaking and Prose Interpretation to the American Forensics Association鈥檚 National Speech Tournament, which will be held in Santa Ana, California, April 1-7, 2020.

The results from both days of the tournament are below.

October 19, 2019

  • Victoria Hofmann, a first-year student from Sutton, Nebraska, placed seventh in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Sam Johnson, a sophomore from Hastings, Nebraska, placed fourth in Communication Analysis and fourth in Informative Speaking.
  • Sam Burke, a junior from Denver, Colorado, placed second in Poetry Interpretation.
  • Courtney Hanson, a junior from Brookings, South Dakota, placed first in After Dinner Speaking and second in Prose Interpretation.

October 20, 2019

  • Victoria Hofmann, a first-year student from Sutton, Nebraska, placed fifth in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Sam Johnson, a sophomore from Hastings, Nebraska, placed third in Communication Analysis.
  • Sam Burke, a junior from Denver, Colorado, placed third in Poetry Interpretation and sixth in Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Courtney Hanson, a junior from Brookings, South Dakota, placed third in Prose Interpretation.
