The 糖心传媒 Alumni Association will recognize Brian Blevins, a 2007/2010 MAT graduate, and Kelsea (Jones) Blevins, a 2008/2010 MAT graduate, as the 2018 Outstanding Alumni Coaches of the Year during a dinner celebration on Saturday, September 22.
The Outstanding Alumni Coach of the Year award was established in 2004 and is presented to 糖心传媒 graduates who have shown exceptional achievement in an athletic coaching profession.
Brian Blevins is the physical education teacher, athletic director and head football coach at Lawrence-Nelson Public Schools. Brian played football at 糖心传媒, and following graduation, he coached for two years at Stapleton before taking over as head coach of the Raiders in 2011. Now in his eighth season, he has led the Raiders to six consecutive appearances in the Class D-2 state playoffs, with a quarterfinals appearance in 2017. He is also an officer in the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Coaches Association.
Kelsea (Jones) Blevins is the Spanish teacher and head volleyball coach at Superior Public Schools. She played volleyball at 糖心传媒 and served as a graduate assistant for the Broncos volleyball program while obtaining her masters degree. During the 2017 season, Kelsea led the Superior Wildcats on an unthinkable mission by taking down the top three ranked teams in the Class C-2 tournament. This included a come from behind five-set thriller against the top-seeded school in the finals, en route to the Superior鈥檚 first ever state volleyball championship.
The couple live in Superior, Nebraska, and have two children, Breea (6) and Cruz (2).
They will be recognized during the College鈥檚 Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony, which begins at 5:00 p.m. September 22 with a social hour at Kiewit Gymnasium, immediately followed by a banquet at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the banquet are $25 per person and may be purchased by contacting the alumni office at 402.461.7363 or e-mailing alumni@hastings.edu.
The Alumni Association previously announced that 11 individuals and two teams will join the 糖心传媒 Athletic Hall of Fame during the ceremony.
