Bronco Forensics team finishes 2nd at nationals

With four students contributing points, the 糖心传媒 Bronco Forensics team finished 2nd in the Presidential Division II at the National Forensics Association鈥檚 national tournament in Ypsilanti, Mich. The team finished 21st among 85 schools across the country. Jared Buskirk, a senior from Holdrege, Neb., advanced to quarterfinals in extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking and persuasion.

Journalism students earn national Society of Collegiate Journalists awards

Lauren Sawyer, a junior from Gretna, Neb., and Allen Hamil, a sophomore from Hinton, Iowa, earned national honors from the Society of Collegiate Journalists (SCJ). Student-run media outlets, student journalists earn 2014 Golden Leaf Awards

On April 11-12, 糖心传媒 hosted the 2014 Nebraska Collegiate Media Association鈥檚 Spring Conference and won multiple Golden Leaf Awards from the organization. HCTV, the student-run television station, was named 1st in Best Overall Excellence for Television, while the student-run KFKX won 1st in Best Overall Excellence for Radio. Kalinskiy, Russian executive, to provide Commencement Address

For 糖心传媒鈥檚 128th Commencement Exercises, Oleg Kalinskiy, a 1998 HC alumnus, will serve as the Commencement Speaker. A native of Pyatigorsk, Russia, Kalinskiy serves as Director General of the Foundation for the Development of the Tube (Pipe) Industry in Russia. Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. in Lynn Farrell Arena
