Trischia Ruekert, a senior from Beloit, Kansas, paced the Broncos on February 21 with first place finished in three categories: Communication Analysis, Persuasive and Extemporaneous Speaking.

Additionally, senior Eunice Adounkpe from Omaha, Nebraska, earned the Spirit of NIFA Award for excellence in and beyond competitive public speaking.

A member of the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Bronco Forensics team, she competed in Poetry, Persuasion, Prose and Duo. Her strong performances, combined with those of her teammates, helped the Broncos place third on the tournament’s second day.

Kathryn Edwards, a junior from Louisville, Nebraska, finished fifth in Communication Analysis.

With Andrew Boge, a sophomore from Johnston, Iowa, leading the way as the third best individual speaker, the team took second place over the weekend while overpowering schools across the nation including Florida State University.

Boge first Bronco speaker to qualify for 2016 national tournament /news/boge-first-bronco-speaker-to-qualify-for-2016-national-tournament/ Mon, 12 Oct 2015 00:00:00 +0000 https://staging.hastings.edu/boge-first-bronco-speaker-to-qualify-for-2016-national-tournament/ In his first year competing on ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Bronco Forensics team, Andrew Boge, a sophomore from Johnston, Iowa, became the first Bronco of the year to qualify for the 2016 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament. Boge earned his ticket to the tournament in Florida with a third place finish in Informative Speaking at the Buff/Cat Invite hosted by Kansas State University and West Texas A&M on October 3.

On October 4 – the tournament’s second day — Carly Spotts-Falzone, a freshman from Wayzata, Minnesota, also qualified for nationals with a 3rd place finish in Dramatic Interpretation.

Bronco Forensics takes 25th at nationals /news/bronco-forensics-takes-25th-at-nationals/ Tue, 14 Apr 2015 00:00:00 +0000 https://staging.hastings.edu/bronco-forensics-takes-25th-at-nationals/ At the 2015 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET), the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Bronco Forensics team finished 25th in the country. This year’s national tournament was the largest in history with more than 1500 events, showcased by more than 700 competitors from the across the nation.

Eunice Adounkpe, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, beat out more than 200 competitors to advance to quarterfinals in Prose Interpretation. Additionally, Miranda Klugesherz, a senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sierra Walker, a senior from Gering, Nebraska, were two of only 12 competitors to receive All-American Individual Events honors from AFA. They join nine former Broncos who also hold that honor. ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ holds the record for second-most All Americans in the nation.

The team will begin the 2015-16 season July 1.
