Carol Ronin Thompson’s paintings will be featured at ��Ĵ�ý’s Art Gallery (711 E. 7^th St.) throughout the month of November starting Thursday, November 5.

The public is invited to attend the free opening reception on Thursday, November 12, at 4 p.m.

Thompson graduated from Fremont High School and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she received her B.A. and M.F.A. She currently resides in a rural home outside of Lincoln with her husband, Art. She also has two children and five grandchildren.

“I paint pictures that reference elements from nature, or other objects that interest me,” said Thompson. “I set up those items in my studio and work directly from them. Flowers from my garden and from the ditches, as well as bird nests blown from the trees are some of my favorite objects from nature.”

She also said she is fascinated by the translation from eye, or brain, to hand resulting in an image on canvas.

The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Works by painter Kenneth Hall and sculptor Aaron Badlam will be on display in the ��Ĵ�ý Art Gallery during the College’s 2015 Spring Semester. The gallery, located on campus at 711 E. 7th Street, is free and open to the public. Its hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Enjoy a magical evening with the ��Ĵ�ý Theatre Department as it kicks off the year with a production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Get your tickets today for performances at 8 p.m. on October 2-5 and at 2 p.m. on October 6 – all at the Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.)

The box office opens Thursday, September 26 and will remain open Monday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m. until Friday, October 4. General tickets are $8.00 while seniors and non-��Ĵ�ý students can get them for $5. Tickets are free to ��Ĵ�ý students, faculty and staff and to Crimson Connection members. A light-hearted, accessible comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” follows four couples through a raucous evening as fairies turn a forest upside down. Meanwhile, well-meaning actors are producing a play in the same forest. Chaos ensues.
